What A Week That Was

Well, that was an exciting week or so. A gig, a video shoot (our first), and a bit of merching. The gig was great fun. We broke our Moon Club virginity for Ben Gallivan (of Red Medicine) ‘s birthday. Falling Stacks from Brizzle were first up, and brought touch’n’go flavoured three-piecery to the stage with aplomb. The lovely Gwenno outtaoffof The Pipettes was the solo ham in the two band sandwich, literally making me daydream with a set of part-programmed, part-live electro-korgualirty which a former hack critic like myself might describe as wistful and/or melancholy and/or dreamy, which I think I already said. Anyway, good stuff. And we were next. “Totem Terrors took the stage and ____________ the audience with a __________ set of ___________ songs from their __________ début album, Repeat Play Torrent Rar.” Fill in that one for yourself (hint 1: if you weren’t there, we were ACE/OK/SHITE. Delete as appropriate. Hint 2: The first one. Honest).

NEXT our alarmingly fun video shoot. Way back when (actually last November) when we launched our Kickstarter campaign to raise money for our fab album (falbum?), one of the many hilarious incentives was to HAVE A COOL PART IN A TOTEM TERRORS VIDEO. I’m quoting verbatim there, caps included. Anyway, two daring people took up the offer (which is handy because there were only two available). One of them lives in Estonia and so couldn’t make it (Shout out to MS!), but the other was Cardiff’s own John Wright (aka Wrightoid), and he could. It just so happens that I was lucky enough to fall in with what turned out to be the talented crowd at school, which means former school chum Rhodri Thomas directed our vid, and fellow former school chum Wayne Samuels got to star in it. Rod and Wayne are already quite the team - not only have they already made videos together :

But they are also two thirds of the best bedroom band in the world, evah : The Hounds Of Czar. Confused yet? This blog post has nowhere near the number of characters as Catch 22 yet, so there’s no excuse (I have only ever read to chapter 4 in that book, don’t spoil the end for me in case I finish it some day). Anyway, the upshot of all this is that we’ll have a video soon, for forthcoming ‘single’ Disco Tryst, which is track six on the new album. Start of side B, vinyl lovers.

And finally, we got around to making some new t-shirts. We have a loverly green Hatman, a splendid navy Brainpop, and black TT circles on both white and grey. All the shirts we have at the moment are medium men’s sized, but if you like reeeeaaally want a particular size and/or colour, send us an email and good things will happen. They’re £8, except for the ones which are slightly wonky, and those are £6. Oh, there’s also a gorgeous YELLOW shirt with the black TT circle design hanging on the wall in Spillers Records in Cardiff. So if you like the sound of that, go throw eight quid at Ashli and tell her how much she rocks for accommodating our rare wares in her fine establishment.

Alright, enough from me. I’m going to have a Mr Kipling pie and catch up on some five years old tee vee before bed. Have fun you guys! x
